Honor Flight Sponsor – 2012 – 2013
WHCI has renewed its commitment to Honor Flight of Northern California, along with a number of our vendors.
Honor Flight Northern California is a non-profit program created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices by flying these American heroes to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to senior WW II survivors along with those other veterans that may be terminally ill.
As Will Rogers famously said, “We can’t all be heroes. Some of us have to stand on the curb and clap as they go by.” Participating in the Honor Flight Network is our way of paying tribute to American veterans who gave so much to protect our country.
Our goal is to raise $30,000 to sponsor a flight carrying 33 veterans to Washington, DC for a Tour of Honor. The group will visit our national memorials, where they will be welcomed as honored guests of our nation.

About Honor Flight Northern California
- Honor Flight Northern California is a non-profit program created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices by flying these American heroes to Washington, DC to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to senior WW II survivors along with those other veterans that may be terminally ill. The WW II Memorial was not dedicated until April 2004, nearly sixty years after the end of the war, therefore, there are MANY veterans who have not had the opportunity or the resources to see their country’s tribute to their bravery.
- Based on recent statistics, we are losing WW II veterans at the rate of 1200 per day. With many not having the resources or support systems to undertake such a trip, Honor Flight Northern California is doing whatever it takes to fulfill the dreams of our veterans and, very importantly, our senior heroes travel absolutely free. Perhaps more importantly they are accompanied by trained volunteer guardians who pay their own expenses simply for the honor of serving these American heroes.
